Considering the numerous sexual harassment claims against some prominent individuals in recent times, the least one expected from a man of high reputation, was uttering comments about the backside of a lady at a public event, critics have said.
Chief Executive Officer of the Consumer Rights Protection Agency, Kofi Kapito, is being lambasted for sexually harassing GhOne TV’s Serwaa Amihere after he ‘praised’ the butts of the news anchor.
Kofi Kapito who had been called to present an award at the 2019 Radio/Television Personality Awards, held at the Accra International Conference Centre, Saturday, stood behind the microphone, greeted the audience, spotted the journalist who was seated in the crowd, looked into her eyes and said, “Ey, Serwaa Amihere. Look at your butts. Nice!”
Hours after the incident, Serwaa Amihere has expressed utmost disappointment, stressing that she has been sexually harassed.
What shocks her the most, she said, is the fact that she revered Mr. Kapito and never anticipated such a comment from him.
“I had so much respect for Mr. Kofi Kapito. This is a classic case of sexual harassment. I’m appalled by his utterances. This was needless and completely disrespectful!” she tweeted.

Adding their voices to the issue, journalists Nana Aba Anamoah and Francis Abban, described Kofi Kapito’s comment as ‘unacceptable’.
Unacceptable. ??????????? https://t.co/lciqjozZne

Some tweeps are equally outraged as they have chastised Kofi Kapito.
Here are a few of the tweets

Kofi Kapito, please apologise. The comment was crude and inappropriate. https://t.co/cEncNqjpUt

The "Butt" comment was needless considering the pedigree of Kofi Kapito, but yeah, majority of Twitter Gh no dey like the Serwaa Lady so e dey invalidate her tweet! Smh!

Now they are screaming sexual harassment! By the time pepper dem ministries & other feminine caucuses are done dissecting ur "raunchy remark" heh! U'll be eyeing the papacy???? https://t.co/K5HoFKDOZo
Meanwhile, some have questioned why Serwaa Amihere failed to put Kofi Kapito to order right after the event. They argued that the newscaster just wants to trend on social media, hence, her decision to criticize on Twitter.
Below are some of the tweets
masa masa he said that before you went on stage for ur award so why didn't u also used that same opportunity he got on the stage to say that thing to also tell him ur mind when u got on the stage rather than to be making noise here? Kcda kraa

His comments were needles and appalling. For a man of his stature, speaking like an overdrunk elder in the locker room says a lot about how our elderly have failed to unlearn and learn.

But wait. You heard him make those disgusting statement and u failed to warn him there
U wait aa Nana Aba post before u too dey post... Actually it's awful from him tho.. But I'm sure he will apologize then everything will be fine
— Yaw Woodward????????????? (@pee_waay) October 13, 2019
And why didn't u give a rebuttal when u got to the stage to take ur award instead of bringing it to social media????

I personally agree with her. It's was inappropriate but what I don't understand is why she decided to use Twitter to confront the man and escalate the issue further. She could 've told him whatever she felt right there or go to the organisers for her concerns to be addressed .
