Kofi Wayo Assaults Minister's Aide

Charles Eric Paterson Simmons (popularly known as Kofi Wayo ), the cigar-chomping politician who donned NPP collars in the last Parliamentary elections but lost to his NDC opponent is alleged to have assaulted Mr. Kwame Owusu Nuako, Special Advisor to the Minister of Energy.

Mr. Wayo stormed the studios of Choice FM, an Accra-based radio station to threaten and verbally assault Mr. Nuako who had been invited to a discussion programme – ‘Agenda’ on the station.

In the course of the programme, Mr. Nuako proceeded to punch huge loopholes in Kofi Wayo’s bid proposal describing it as a hoax.

Mr. Nuako carefully pointed out that the American firm, which Kofi Wayo was fronting for, was a sham, which clouded the entire proposal in suspicion. But suddenly, in walked Chuck Wayo in Tee Shirt, large shorts what in American parlance is referred to as a ten-gallon hat. He managed to mislead the security men and entered the interview room in very furious mood.

Angrily, hurling insults at the Special Assistant and waging his forefinger dangerously in his face, Kofi Wayo threatened Mr. Nuako with hell and brimstone. The scene lasted for several minutes before security men were called in to stop Wayo in his tracks.

Choice FM later sent emissaries to apologise to Mr Nuako. In a letter of apology signed by Nii Lante Bruce, acting programs Director, the station denounced Kofi Wayo’s conduct describing it as “uncouth”.

A portion of the letter intercepted by the Evening News reads, “I am apologizing in my capacity as acting Programmes Director and on behalf of Choice FM for the embarrassment caused as a result of Mr. Wayo’s uncouth behaviour. This was never our intention and has only been caused by grievous security lapse on our path.”
