Kofi Wayo calls for arrest directors of VRA, ECG others for fraud

To halt the current erratic power supply and avoid future occurrence in the country, the Leader and Founder of United Renaissance Party, Charles Kofi Wayo, has called on President John Dramani Mahama to cause the arrest of directors of these service providers for the treatment they are subjecting Ghanaians to.

He believes the recurrent power outages are just part of plans to sabotage government and has demanded from the service providers to explain to Ghanaians the quantum of watts needed to be repaired, and also show to the country the log book for the repairs.

Quite recently, the Senior Public Relations Officer, Accra West Region of the Electricity Company of Ghana, Eric Asante, says though the company is making efforts to address the power crisis in the country, it cannot assure the public of uninterrupted power supply during the World Cup tournament this month.

Kofi Wayo, who once served with the Energy Commission, is angered by the treatment being meted to the public from the Volta River Authority (VRA), the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Gridco and the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC). He held strongly on Okay Fm’s Ade Akye Abea morning show that the directors of these various service providers and state agencies must be arrested for defrauding customers.

“If I were the President, I will cause the arrest of the damaging directors of VRA, ECG and dissolve Gridco and PURC. It is a useless organization costing the country more money; that’s all…..Industries cannot work due to erratic power supply and so we have to import second-hand toothbrushes, underwear, shoes and fridges.

ECG is robbing Ghanaians off their monies because we buy power from them but we go home and sleep in the dark... if they don’t give us light after buying the power, then they are committing fraud against the customers and they must be arrested…the damaging directors are enjoying in luxuries and attending big conferences and yet they are not giving us light...after their big grammar and long speeches at conferences, we still sleep in darkness,” he stated.
