Extension Coordinator, has called for concerted efforts in solving the problem of child labour. He said that child labour affected the psychological, emotional, health and educational development of children.
Mr Owusu-Ansah, who was speaking at a day's forum on child labour, organized by the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) at Kofiase in the Asante-Mampong Municipality, asked parents to seek the welfare and development of their children.
The event brought together children, assembly members, chiefs and heads of decentralized departments.
He said worst forms of child labour should be stopped because it affected the education of children.
Mr William Kwakye, Quality Control Officer of the COCOBOD for Agona and Jamasi in the
Sekyere South District, reminded parents of their responsibility to provide their children with shelter,clothing, medical care and education. Mrs Grace Manu of the Seed Production Unit of the Board at Jamasi, blamed increasing child trafficking in the area on broken homes, poverty and parental negligence.
Nana Otuo Agyei Acheampong, Chief of Kofiase, called on Ghanaians to adequately protect children from all forms of abuses.
