Komenda-Sefwi connected to the national grid

Komenda-Sefwi (C/R), Nov. 19, GNA- The Minister of Energy, Dr Paa Kwesi Nduom, on Friday inaugurated 260 million cedis electricity project for the people of Komenda-Sefwi in the Komenda-Edina Eguafo-Abrem District with a call on the people to use the facility to create jobs.

The project was under the Rural Electrification Project (REP). He also provided the Anweem-Kumasi primary school with two solar panels with a capacity of 150 watts valued at 2,000 Euros and a television set.

Dr Nduom said it was the vision of the government to provide all the rural communities with electricity to enhance their living conditions and that a total of 1,104 communities out of a target of 1,169 have already been connected to the national grid nationwide. He said he was hopeful that by the end of the year the rest of the communities would be covered and urged the beneficiary communities to pay their bills promptly.

The Minister advised them to register for metres to make it easier for them to pay their bills. He called on the beneficiaries of the solar panels to provide people to be trained to maintain them. Nana Kwesi Awotwe I, chief of Komenda-Sefwi commended the government for providing the facility and promised that it would be used judiciously to enhance their living conditions.

Mr Seth Peter Adjakpe, Headteacher of Anweem -Kumasi primary school, also thanked the government and said the provision of electricity to the school would help improve teaching and learning.
