Ghanaians woke up on Thursday to the devastating news of an accident involving one of the two most decorated clubs in the country’s football history.
Kumasi Asante Kotoko was involved in a gory accident that left the team’s equipment officer dead and others sustaining various degrees of injuries.
According to reports the bus that was conveying the players, technical and management members ran into a stationed KIA truck in Nkawkaw at 9:45pm on Wednesday.
The collision resulted in the instant death of one Asare, believed to be equipment officer of the club and leaving Coach Steve Polack and a majority of the people on the bus sustaining severe injuries.

Information from Kotoko’s camp indicates that all the victims with the exception of Coach Steve Polack, midfielder, Ollenu Ashitey and the driver have been discharged.
The trio who are believed to be in critical conditions are currently receiving treatment at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
The Sports Minister, Ashanti regional ministers and all the people who matter in Ghana football have trooped to Kumasi to commiserate with the fabulous family. Whiles rival Premier League clubs have also issued messages of condolence and well-wishing to the 21-time League champions.
The team were making a return to Kumasi following the 1-nil defeat to Inter Allies on match day 22 of the 2016/2017 Ghana Premier League.
Kotoko have officially written to the Premier League Board and Ghana Football Association to grant them some time to recover physically and psychologically from the unfortunate incident.
