Kotokoli Chief Advises Muslims

Accra, 31, GNA - Muslims have been called upon to refrain from acts which hinder national development. Chief Alhaji Haruna Salifu, newly-installed Kotokoli Chief of Ghana, who gave the advice in Accra on Sunday, said Muslims would be doing disservice to the nation if they did not allow the teachings of Islam to reflect in their daily lives.

He said, "as true Muslims you have to explain vividly the teachings of Islam instead of creating the impression that Islam has no meaning." Chief Salifu advised parents to take keen interest in the education of their wards so that they would grow to become useful citizens. He called for unity of purpose among all Muslims to enable them to forge ahead and fight for the development of the nation. The newly-installed chief asked all Ghanaians to take the National Health Insurance Scheme and the National Identification System seriously and register for their own benefit.
