Kpegah wants Akyem judge changed on Akufo-Addo case

Retired Supreme Court Judge, Justice F. Y. Kpegah has raised protests against the Judge sitting on his case against the main opposition New Patriotic Party’s 2012 Presidential Candidate, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

He has therefore written to the Judicial Council requesting that Justice William Ofori-Atta of the Accra Fast Track high Court be made to recuse himself from the case before the substantive case could be heard.

The former Supreme Court Judge is questioning Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s law credentials and also accuses him of identity fraud and impersonation.

He is seeking the court to declare Nana Akufo-Addo as an impersonator of one W.A.D Akufo-Addo.

His first case was struck out by the court on grounds that he did not adduce enough evidence to support his allegations against the former Attorney General and Legislator.

At the start of hearing on Thursday July 18, 2013 however, Justice Kpegah raised reservations with the fact that Justice William Ofori-Atta will be the presiding Judge on the matter.

His reasons for that protest are not yet known.

It is, however, a fact that Nana Akufo-Addo, an Akyem has familial ties with the Ofori-Attas, who are also Akyems.

Justice Kpegah has also added the General Legal Council to his amended suit.

The Council had earlier come out to clarify and seek to prove that Nana Akufo Addo is a duly qualified Lawyer.
