Kpoi-Ete inhabitants isolated from economic activities

Kpoi-Ete, 21 July, GNA- Inhabitants of Kpoi-Ete in the Kpone-Katamanso area of the Tema Municipality, have been temporarily isolated from economic activities of the area, due to the lack of a ferry to operate across the Laaloi lagoon that link Kpoi-Ete to Kpone. The situation was also affecting academic work, as some teachers who live in Kpone could not travel to Kpoi-Ete to teach. Mr. Joshua Tetteh Abladey, assembly member for the Dingla Electoral Area in the Municipality, said these in an interview with the GNA at Kpoi-Ete. He said the over five hundred inhabitants of Kpoi-Ete used to cross the lagoon on foot to Kpone and other parts of the country until the water body over flooded its banks joining the sea four weeks ago after it rained heavily.

Mr. Abladey said the people who were mainly farmers could not transport their agriculture produce to the market centres thereby bringing economic activities to a stand still. He expressed worry that the Kpone Traditional Council, which used to provide canoes during the rainy season, did not come to the aid of the people this time.

Mr. Abladey appealed to the G overnment to provide a ferry across the lagoon, construct a road to link Kpoi-Ete to Prampram, make available potable water, electricity and health facilities to facilitate socio-economic activities in the area.
