Kpone Gai Bridge temporarily opened to traffic

Kpone, March 5, GNA-- The people of Kpone on Friday breathed a sigh of relief when the bridge over the Gai stream at the outskirts of the town, which was is being re- constructed, was temporarily opened to traffic.

Sometime last year, the bridge after becoming narrow, developed cracks, and nearly collapsed.

This made it dangerous for motorists to use and so that portion of the road was closed to traffic, thus compelling the residents to use the Asogli road before they could travel to Tema and its environs.

Consequently, government awarded the project on contract and according to the engineer on site, the stream would be dredged, while proper grading, shaping, gravelling and tarring of the road would be done.

Speaking at the ceremony, Nii Laryea Afotey-Agbo, the Member of Parliament for Kpone-Katamanso, reiterated government’s commitment to initiate development programmes that would improve the living standards of majority of the people.

He said after the bridge had been completed the people of Kpone would be provided with streetlights.
