The Junior Youth wing of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church at Kpong in the Eastern region on Sunday donated quantities of items to the Kids’ Ward of the St. Martin’s De Porres Hospital at Agomanya.
The gesture, which is to assist the ward, is to help provide for the pertinent and hygiene needs of the children on admission at the hospital.
The items presented are diapers, toilet roll, soap, detergents, assorted drinks, biscuits, bedspreads, pillow cases and cash donations
Presenting the products, the president of the Junior Youth wing of the church, Isaac Abayah said the presentation of the items was to enable the children appreciate the values of health while appreciating God’s infinite mercies at ensuring that mankind remained healthy.
“With health being an essential part of life which requires our utmost attention, the church has in line with its mission of enhancing the lives of the afflicted and needy in society donated these items to assist the children in the hospital,” said Mr. Abayah.
He said the gesture, aside the aim of the youth of the church to demonstrate their appreciation to God for seeing them successfully into the New Year, equally presented to them, the opportunity to preach the gospel to and talk to the young ones about Christ.
This is not the first time the group is donating to a facility. Mr. Abayah recalled similar philanthropic acts engaged in by the youth group almost every year and said this particular visit also afforded the group the opportunity to assess at first hand, the challenges faced by the kids’ ward.
The JY and the church at large are also particularly worried about the plight of children in the hospital including feeding and difficulty paying for their treatment hence the visit by the youth to support the ward with the items to ensure the children are given the needed support.
With health being an essential part of life which requires utmost attention, the Junior Youth of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church in line with its mission of enhancing the lives of the afflicted and needy in society believes the donation of the products will help reduce the burden patients of the facility face on a daily basis, and also go a long way to improve the health of the children.
He called on individuals, benevolent organizations and Christian bodies to come to the aid of the children in the ward as many had pressing challenges and are the future leaders of the country.
The group hopes to extend similar assistance to other institutions including, orphanages and juvenile prison facilities by end of the year.
