Nene Asafoatse Majitey III, chief of Asesewa in the Upper Manya Krobo constituency in the Eastern Region, has predicted victory for Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

“You will win this year’s election and become the next President of Ghana. We will vote for you but please remember to give us water, repair our deplorable roads and our market…

"The NDC government has collapsed our palm oil factory; kindly fix it for us when you come into power,” the chief launched his appeal at a massive rally ground when Nana Addo stormed the constituency as part of his day-three campaign tour.

According to the chief, the NDC government has deceived them for the past years by not even providing them water. He therefore expressed hope that Nana Addo would come and save them by providing them with water.

Nana Addo, who was given a rousing welcome at the Asesewa market, asked the Krobos to change their voting pattern in this year’s elections and vote for him to turn the fortunes of this country around.

Nana Akufo-Addo noted that President Mahama’s tenure of office had been marked by the wanton theft of state resources, widespread cases of corruption and a broken economy.

The NPP presidential candidate further reiterated his commitment to setting up one factory in each of the 216 districts, and urged Ghanaians not to pay heed to the sceptics who continually said it could not be done.

“I want you to have confidence in me. I beg you; use your thumbs to vote for me. I have solutions to your problems. My government, if God permits, will rescue you from the hardship the NDC led by John Mahama have plunged you into,” he said, adding that he would not disappoint Krobos should he emerge winner of the November polls.

Vision

The NPP, Nana indicated, believes that Ghana has all it takes to succeed and better the lives of its citizens, but the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) has not been able to achieve this and has instead led the country into a ditch.

“I must tell you emphatically, John Mahama doesn’t have any message for you anymore; don’t vote for them. They will only come and increase the hardship if you vote for the National Democratic Congress again,” he said.

“We have the solutions to put food on the table, create jobs and comfort for all Ghanaians. I want you to have faith in me and my vision for the nation and I want to promise you that God willing when I get the presidential nod, I will not disappoint you,” he added.

Nana Akufo-Addo said in addition to the establishment of a marketing board for maize, his government “is going to diversify our agriculture. We are not going to rely only on cocoa. We are going to follow the steps of Cote d’Ivoire, where their government is fully supporting the production of cotton, coffee, cashew and oil palm, in addition to cocoa.”

This twin-track of rapid industrial expansion and increasing agricultural productivity, he noted, is the means by which his government, God-willing from 2017, is going to create jobs for the teeming masses of unemployed Ghanaians.

Nana Akufo-Addo, who is optimistic he will win the upcoming polls to secure the future of the country, thus urged residents of Asesewa and the people of Upper Manya not to be swayed by the usual “sceptic talk” of “it cannot be done” and “it is impossible” any time he outlines policies and programmes aimed at bringing progress and prosperity to Ghanaians.

He further stated that “it is the sceptics who have no faith in the ability of the Ghanaian to shape a prosperous future who say ‘it cannot be done’. But we believe strongly in the can-do-spirit of the Ghanaian.”

Nana further assured the Zongo communities of the setting up of a Zongo Development Fund aimed at enhancing infrastructural development in Zongo communities and improving the lives of their residents.

At the Upper Manya constituency, one of the six constituencies the NPP has never won in the Eastern Region in the 4th Republic, Nana Akufo-Addo appealed to residents to vote for him.

He rounded off his tour of the constituency with a visit to Sekesua, where he assured the Dademantsemei, Manyemei and the people of Sekesua that his government would fix the deplorable road leading to the town, as well as extend water supply to the community. He urged the Krobos not to be hoodwinked by the NDC’s propaganda.
