The West Africa Network of Election Observers (WANEO), in strategic alliance with the Defence Network for Democracy (DEFNED) and Affiliate Pan African Civil Society Organizations, wishes to respectfully and wholeheartedly commend the Executive Leadership and all staff of the Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) for their impressive management efforts and administrative innovations.

These efforts have significantly strengthened collective and all-inclusive stakeholder involvement, engagement, and active participation in the entire democratic electoral process in Ghana. This is crucial for securing a more credible voter register nationwide, contributing to our collective efforts in consolidating Ghana’s sustainable democracy, good governance, peace, and security architecture before, during, and after the 2024 General Elections in Ghana.

WANEO wishes to further encourage and appeal to the Executive Leadership of the Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) to continue their good administrative work and the laudable innovations demonstrated so far in deepening public trust and boosting stakeholders' confidence. This can be achieved by upholding core democratic values and the culture of transparency, accountability, inclusivity, and impact-driven engagements with all stakeholders.

These efforts are crucial for the consolidation and sustainability of democracy, good governance, peace, and security, in fulfillment of the principles and objectives of the ECOWAS Protocol on Democracy and Good Governance, the ECOWAS Conflict Prevention Framework, the African Charter on Democracy, Elections and Governance (ACDEG), the African Charter on Human and Peoples' Rights (ACHPR), the African Peace and Security Architecture (APSA), the Commonwealth Charter, the African Union Agenda 2063, the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs - Agenda 2030), and the provisions of the 1992 Constitution of the Republic of Ghana.

WANEO is therefore calling on all key stakeholders, such as political parties, civil society organizations, religious/faith-based institutions, traditional authorities, and media organizations, to support these efforts.

This support should complement the constitutional mandate and operational initiatives of the Electoral Commission of Ghana in our collective efforts to secure a credible voter register nationwide for the upcoming Ghana 2024 General Elections. This is essential for the consolidation of Ghana’s sustainable democracy, peace, and security under the 1992 Constitution of the Republic of Ghana for the good people of Ghana and Africa.

WANEO finally wishes to reaffirm and reiterate its continuous readiness, commitment, and availability to complement the constitutional mandate and operational functions of the Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC), together with all relevant public and private sector stakeholders, in securing a credible Voters Register for the conduct of a highly inclusive and peaceful Ghana Election 2024.
