Kufuor Off To Italy On Saturday

... He'll be away for a week
Accra, Oct. 13, GNA - President John Agyekum Kufuor leaves Accra this Saturday for Rome for a two-day State visit at the invitation of the Italian President Giorgio Napolitano.

A statement issued from the Office of the President said the two Presidents would hold bilateral talks and address the press together at the Quirinal Palace on Monday October 16, 2006.

Among issues to be discussed are: The Ghana Private Sector Development Fund, the request for its renewal and increase as well as an agreement on the protection of the private investments.

The statement said both Presidents would also discuss Italy's assistance to Ghana's Parliament, training for Ghana's Peace Keeping Missions and Peace and Security in West Africa as a whole.

President Kufuor would also meet the Italian Prime Minister, Romano Prodi as well as the President of the Italian Senate.

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Cooperation and NEPAD and Mr Baah-Wiredu and other Senior Government Officials would accompany the President.

President Kufuor is expected back home on Friday October 20, 2006.
