Former president John Agyekum Kufuor has waded into issues surrounding the shutdown of radio stations by the National Communications Authority (NCA).

According to him, it would be dangerous to politicise the act, and for that reason, it is important that the matter is carefully discussed.

His comments come on the heels of debates about the closure of Radio Gold and Radio XYZ, as well other stations.

In a 3news.com report, he argued that he would rather wish aggrieved parties and the authorities engaged in “behind the scenes negotiations.”

YEN.com.gh earlier reported that the NCA initially shut down two radio stations for defaulting in the renewal of their broadcasting authorization.

Three more radio stations, all of which are described as pro-National Democratic Congress (NDC) stations, have also been shut down.

These acts have generated discussions, as some have described them as politically-motivated decisions instead of genuine enforcement of the law.
