Kufuor far better than Akufo-Addo in governance - Afriyie Ankrah

Former Minister of Youth and Sports and current Director of Elections for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Elvis Afriyie Ankrah has rated former President John Kufuor above President Akufo-Addo, stressing that the difference between the two leaders is as crystal clear as that between light and darkness.

“I don’t agree with him (President Kufuor) in many ways and I give him a lot of trouble. But between President Kufuor and President Nana Addo, the difference is like the difference between light and darkness,” he stated on PanAfrican TV monitored by MyNewsGh.com.

He is of the opinion that President Akufo-Addo has disappointed many Ghanaians as President of the Republic because he has failed woefully to meet expectations and his ratings before he assumed the Presidency.

“The way Nana Addo was projected – human rights advocate, anti-corruption crusader- so when he came and he started first, [ we were considerate enough and said] let’s give him six months, let’s give him one month…but it’s a total disaster,” he claimed.

He also claimed that President Akufo-Addo was running a corrupt regime and the NDC will have to win power so as to ‘rescue’ the country.

"The government is gradually becoming a kakistocracy. It is frightening. And 2020 is not just an election, it is a rescue mission; we need to rescue this country from that kakistocracy…because the kinds of things that are happening they have never happened before in this country since Kwame Nkrumah,” he declared.
