Kufuor holds talks with Gaddafi

Sirte, Feb. 29, GNA - President John Agyekum Kufuor on Sunday held bilateral talks with the Libyan Leader, Colonel Muammar Gaddafi in Sirte, Libya.
Details of the talks held behind closed doors were not disclosed but believed to centre on relationships between the two countries. The talks were held after President Kufuor had paid a courtesy call on Colonel Gaddafi before departure to Accra.
President Kufuor was in Sirte to participate in the two-day Second Extraordinary Summit of the Heads of State and Government of the African Union (AU) held on February 27-28.
The Summit discussed Agriculture and Water as well as a Common Defence and Security Policy for Africa where the leaders advocated the establishment of an African Common Market for agriculture produce and commodities with immediate effect.
They also adopted the Common African Defence and Security Policy and declared their commitment to uphold and give practical expression to the provisions of the Sirte Declaration.
President Kufuor who had since returned home was accompanied to the Summit by Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Foreign Minister, Mr Clement L. N. Eledi, Deputy Minister of Food and Agriculture, Mr Joseph Akudibillah, Deputy Minister of Defence, Mr Daniel K. Osei, Secretary to the President and Mr Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, the President's Press Secretary.
