Kufuor impresses peer review panel

Accra, Jan. 23, GNA - President John Agyekum Kufuor performed creditably to the admiration of his colleagues as he answered questions pertaining the outcome of the report on Ghana under the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM).

The reveiew, which falls under the New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD) initiative, took place in Khartoum, Sudan, over the weekend.
A statement in Accra on Monday by the Ministry of Regional Co-operation and NEPAD said questions posed to President Kufuor were based on a report as submitted by the African Panel Review (APR) Team, which carried out the review process.

It said Ghana was reviewed under four areas, namely Political and Democratic Good Governance, Economic Governance, Socio-Economic Governance and Management and Corporate Governance.

The statement said, whereas Ghana performed well on the whole, she would need five billion dollars to implement the Programme of Action to correct the deficiencies detected in the report, but did not mention those defects.
