…AS NPP MONSTER TO TEACH HIM LESSON
Despite futile attempts to deceive Ghanaians that the new Patriotic Party (NPP) is not a violent party, the party’s political history, tradition and posture of committing acts of violence against political opponents has turned monstrous. Its tradition of perpetrating violence has once again come to the fore as the monster they created has now turned around and is attacking them like a wounded lion.
The most recent person to be attacked is none other person than their own, former president J.A. Kufuor, who faced the wrath of irate youth of the party who barricaded his residence at the Airport residential area, in order to prevent him from attending the swearing in ceremony of the President, John Dramani Mahama.
The tradition of violence in the NPP began right from its inception and has always been displayed any time it is in political crisis. The leaders and members of the party have always refused to listen to the will of the people and the just ended election is a perfect example of the inborn violent character of the party and its leadership. Pre-independent political environment of Ghana was also characterized with violence by the UP tradition, political forefathers of Akufo-Addo’s NPP.
Ghanaians are not surprised at the violent posture of the NPP youth, who are doing their masters bidding to teach former president Kufuor a lesson for attempting to be part of President Mahama’s inauguration.
From the beginning of his campaign for the 2012 elections, Nana Akufo-Addo, the flag bearer of the party continuously preached violence and incited followers with his ALL DIE BE DIE mantra and warmongering comments.
He, on several occasions, told his supporters that the party had to win at all cost so they had to do everything possible to win the elections. The leadership of the party rationalized the warmongering comments by preaching the same message to innocent supporters to fight for them to assume power. Kennedy Agyepong nearly caused tribal violence when he called on Ashantis to kill Gas and ewes. Anthony Karbo, Sammy Awuku and others continued to incite members to strike if the elections did not go their way.
The party with this psychological game plan is pulling members on a dangerous path to undermine the country’s democratic dispensation.
Due to this extensive brainwashing by some selfish individuals in the party leadership, supporters have simply refused to understand and accept the results declared by the Electoral Commission that the presidential election was won by President Mahama. They were also advised not to go to the swearing in ceremony and they complied
However despite the extreme provocation and acts of violence meted out to members of the NDC, the maturity and patience demonstrated by followers of the ruling party has prevented violence erupting in the country before, during and after the elections.
