Kum Y3n Pr3ko Demo: CSJ invites all progressive forces to redeem Ghana from 'oppressive' Akufo-Addo government

The demonstration will come off on the 9th of July at the Old Obra Spot The demonstration will come off on the 9th of July at the Old Obra Spot

Leadership of the Coalition for Social Justice (CSJ) has invited all the progressive forces to join the upcoming ''Kum Y3n Pr3ko'' demonstration to redeem the country from clutches of 'oppressive' Akufo-Addo-led government.

In a statement issued and signed by the group's Secretary, Comrade Ishaq Awudu, copied to the media, disclosed that the group has met the police over the impending demonstration and has been given the green light to embark on it.

Ishaq Awudu who is the National Youth Organizer of People's National Convention (PNC) said they are pleased to announce that the demonstration will come off Tuesday, July 9, 2019.

He emphasized that the converging point of the demonstration remains the same.

"After highly fruitful deliberations, we are pleased to announce that the demonstration will come off on Tuesday, 9th July 2019. The converging point of the demonstration remains the old Obra Spot at the Kwame Nkrumah interchange in Accra", he said.

The group has therefore expressed their disappointment in Akufo-Addo government for increasing the electricity tariffs by 11.17% taking effect on July 1, 2019.

They described the decision as infamous and unpopular and also described President Akufo-Addo as insensitive.

"We have taken notice of the infamous and unpopular decision of the Akufo-Addo government to increase electricity tariffs by 11.17% effective July 01, 2019, despite the loud cry of the Ghanaian people over the already excruciating economic conditions that we find ourselves in", the statement opined.

The statement added that "...It would appear to us, that this Akufo-Addo government continues to be deaf, insensitive and stubbornly bent on visiting more misery on the already burdened Ghanaian. Thus it will only take a mass public protest to drum home the need for this government to wake up from its long nonchalant slumber".

The statement concluded that "We use this opportunity to once again reach out to all progressive forces to come on board as we seek to redeem our nation from the clutches of this insensitive and oppressive government".
