Kumasi Adventist To Support Community Projects

Kumasi (ASH), July 2, Members of the Amansie Adventist Citizens Union resident in Kumasi are raising five million cedis through personal contributions to support various community-initiated projects in the Amansie area. Announcing this at the inauguration of the union in Kumasi, Pastor John Kwadwo Mensah, the chairman, said a greater part of the money would go into the construction and rehabilitation of schools and smaller chapels of the Seventh-Day Adventist (SDA) church. He said the union, which is spiritual and development-oriented, would also help in evangelising in the various communities. The union, he said, has started with tree-planting programmes and is assisting the Kokofu SDA church to extend electricity to the Pastor's residence. Mr. Samuel Kwaku Antwi, Assistant Director of Techiman Adventist Vocational Institute in Brong-Ahafo, called on the members to unite to be able to achieve their objectives. He said people at home are looking forward to what members can do for them; they should. therefore, mobilise all available resources to go to their aid. Other officers of the union are Elder J. W. Sannah, secretary, Mrs. Cecilia Mensah, treasurer, and Mrs. Agnes Addo, financial secretary. More than 360,000 cedis was realised during the inaugural harvest.
