Kumasi High School closed down

Kumasi, June 15, GNA - Kumasi High School (KUHIS) was on Tuesday closed down for two weeks on the orders of the Kumasi Metropolitan Director of Education following the stabbing of three students by a second-year student of the school.

The incident followed a misunderstanding among some of the students during which the second-year student whose names was not immediately available, stabbed three of his colleagues.

Two of the injured students, Masters Mubarak Mohammed and Nurudeen Seidu, all second-year students were rushed to the Kumasi South Hospital where Seidu was treated for laceration in the left palm and discharged, while Mubarak was admitted with three deep wounds and was responding to treatment.

The third student, who was only identified as Michael, was also sent to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for treatment. The incident was the second to be perpetrated by the same student who is on the run, according to the students, the first incident occurred last year but the school authorities did nothing about it. At the Kumasi South Hospital, Dr Theodore Ofosu, the medical officer who treated the two students, told the GNA that they were brought to the hospital bleeding profusely and in severe pains. When the GNA contacted the Headmaster of the school, he refused to comment on the incident and directed the reporter to the Metro Director of Education who could not be reached immediately.

However, a source told the GNA that the matter had been reported to the Asokwa police.
