Kumasi, Nov 10, GNA - The Kumasi Polytechnic admitted a total of 2,715 fresh students for various courses this year, made up of 1,748 men and 967 women out of total of 3,700 qualified applicants. The inability of the polytechnic to admit all qualified applicants was due to lack of adequate facilities and resources such as classrooms, libraries and lecturers.
Dr Benjamin Eric Prah, Rector of Polytechnic, announced this at the 15th matriculation ceremony in Kumasi on Saturday. He noted that the institution has expanded over the years to absorb students for various courses, adding that such rapid expansion calls for sacrifices in personal comfort in general amenities, including lecture rooms, libraries and sanitary facilities.
Dr Prah stressed the need for the students to be imbued with moral qualities including integrity, tolerance, fair play and selflessness. He called on the students to wok assiduously in pursuing their courses to enable them achieve academic laurels in future and contribute meaningful towards the country's socio-economic development. 10 Nov. 07
