Kumasi to host this year’s National Farmers Day

This year’s edition of the National Farmers day will be held at the forecourt of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi of the Ashanti Region.

The Ashanti Regional Director of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA), Rev. John Manu made this known in Kumasi at the official opening of the 2nd edition of poultry, Aquaculture and livestock exhibition dubbed EXPO 2017 Ghana.

The year’s National Farmers day is set to be held on Friday 1st December 2017.

The National event (Farmers Day) is meant to recognize and appreciate the substantial contribution of farmers and agriculture production to the socio-economic development of the country.

He disclosed that there will be also displayed of other Agric activities like food show beginning from the 24th of November 2017.

Meanwhile, he has revealed that fish and livestock products imported by the country constitute the highest each year with over 43 percent despite the fact that, Ghana has the potential to develop the poultry, aquaculture and livestock industry to provide the nation needed food.

He furthermore admitted that the growth of the meat procession sub-sector has been slow as a result of inadequate raw material supply coupled with high cost of production due to inefficient proactive.
