Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Dr. Benjamin Kumbour has debunked assertions by a section of the media that state attorneys have threatened to lay down their tools.
There were reports that the state attorneys threatened to go on strike to protest against poor working conditions.
But According to Dr. Kumbour, the Attorneys only expressed their displeasure about poor working conditions and the media attacks on the Attorney General’s department which they say have subjected them to public ridicule.
In an interview with XYZ News he said, the issue has been resolved after a dialogue with the aggrieved attorneys on the professional hazards associated with their work.
“I was surprised to hear that Attorney’s were actually contemplating to have a strike action that is not the situation. The media attacks have been quite heavy and a number of them said that have been subjected to public ridicule and beginning to affect their work.
“I had a discussion with some of the very senior members and we called all the state attorneys and had a chat with them to draw their attention about professional hazards associated with being a state attorney” Dr. Kumbuor said.
Dr. Benjamin Kumbour also stated that consultations are underway to address calls for more recruitment in the Attorney General’s department.**
