Kwabena Agyapong behind riotous vigilante groups – Wontumi

Suspended General Secretary of NPP, Kwabena Agyepong Suspended General Secretary of NPP, Kwabena Agyepong

Maverick politician and Ashanti Regional Chairman of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) Bernard Antwi Boasiako aka Chairman Wontumi has accused suspended General Secretary of the party, Kwabena Agyepong of being behind the recent rioting by some disgruntled party youth in parts of the country.

According to him, Mr Agyepong is in cahoots with the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and have sponsored certain people to engage in lawless acts in a bid to distract the government and take the minds of Ghanaians off the good works of the Akufo Addo administration.

Already, Kwabena Agyepong is demanding an unqualified apology from Chairman Wontumi, asking him to retract a slanderous statement made against his person which is intended to bringing his hard earned reputation into disrepute.

Chairman Wontumi in an interview on Kumasi based Nhyira FM on October 28, 2017 accused Mr Agyepong of betraying the NPP and also having a compromising association with the opposition NDC ahead of the 2016 general elections.

He has a Friday 3rd November, 2017 deadline, to retract and apologize for the defamatory remarks or be sued.

However speaking on Okay FM Wednesday, November 1, Chairman Wontumi called the bluff of Mr Agyepong urging him to proceed to court, adding that he’s not the type of person to be threatened with legal suit.

“Kwabena Agyepong should forget about an apology from me, I’m not apologizing to him today nor tomorrow. Go to court and I’ll meet you, this is all part of the distractions.

“Kwabena Agyepong is part of an NDC agenda in which they’ve sponsored lawless youth to riot and create disaffection for the Akufo Addo Presidency and that it what we’ve seen in recent times being perpetrated by so called vigilante groups. These people are going to do all sort of things including getting some women to demonstrate on the streets naked just to distract the president from his good works. But they’ll fail, nothing they conspire to do will succeed.”
