Kwabena Owusu implicated in another robbery case

Kumasi, Sept. 15, GNA - Kwabena Owusu, one of the three persons arrested by the Kumasi Police on Monday in connection with the murder of a taxi driver in Accra, has been implicated in the stealing of a taxi in Takoradi in June.

A Police source, which disclosed this to the press in Kumasi on Wednesday said on June 10, this year, at about 17:00 hours a young man believed to be Kwabena Owusu hired a Toyota taxi and asked the driver to send him to Beach Road, a residential area in Takoradi.

On the way, the source said, Owusu pulled out a local-made gun and forcibly took away the taxi after a struggle with the driver, Mr Frederick Appiah. The source said Owusu then drove to Kumasi where he sent the car to Maxwell Kwaku Ofori, the sprayer implicated in the present case.

He sprayed the car in the colours of a private car with no registration number and sold it to Agya Owusu, another accomplice in the case at three million cedis.

Agya Owusu, the source said, in turn sold it to one Mr Adusei in Kumasi, who while still in the process of demanding the documents covering the vehicle, read about their involvement in the Accra robbery in the newspapers and so reported to the Police.

The source said Kwabena Owusu has admitted the crime and the vehicle is now in the custody of the Kumasi Police.
