Ghana midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah came off the bench to help Juventus beat Tottenham Hotspurs 2-1 in the second leg of the round of 16 stage of the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday evening.

The Italian champions went into the game needing a win to advance to the quarter final stage of the competition after playing a pulsating 2-2 draw at the Juventus Stadium a fortnight ago.

However, their hopes appeared to have been dashed after Korean striker Son Heung-Min connected to Kieran Trippier's low cross in the 39th minute.

After failing to find the equalizer in the early minute of the second stanza, coach Maximillian Allegri made a tactical switch on the 60th minute mark, as he brought on Kwadwo Asamoah in place of Alex Sandro and pushed the Brazilian to midfield at the expense of injury-returnee French enforcer Blaise Matuidi.

The plan quickly worked in the Bianconeri favour as they pulled level just four minutes later through Gonzalo Higuain.

And in the 67th minute, Paulo Dybala fired home from close range to send his team into the quarter final stage with a 4-3 aggregate win.
