Kwaebibirem assembly increased its revenue

The Kwaebibirem District Assembly collected 829.108 million cedis last year from its internally generated revenue as against 337.587 million cedis in 2001.

Addressing the assembly on Tuesday the District Chief Executive, Mr Yaw Yiadom-Boakye, said the estimated revenue for last year was 528,946,000 cedis and expressed his happiness that for the second year running the internally generated revenue of the assembly had seen a steep rise.

He said the Government had not regretted for opting for the HIPC initiative since the country had started reaping benefits from the initiative.

He announced that 1 billion cedis had been allocated to the district as its share of the HIPC fund and 500 million cedis of the amount had been lodged in the Assembly's HIPC account.

The DCE said the Assembly was using the HIPC fund to construct a 20-seater water closet toilet, a borehole with electric pump and three overhead tanks at Kade at the cost of 270,018,000 at Kade.

Work has also begun on two three-unit classroom blocks for the L/A JSS at Bamenase and AME Zion Primary School at Akwatia at the cost of 205,171,230 each.

Mr Yiadom-Boakye said similar projects would be built at Akyem Wenchi, Abompe and Kade upon the receipt of the remaining 500,000 cedis.

He said the District Assembly was topping up the cost of the projects from the Common Fund and internally generated revenue.

The DCE said from the Ghana Education Trust fund six-unit classroom blocks would be built.

They are the Presbyterian Primary School, Apinamang presbyterian Primary School, Bomso Salvation Army primary School, Asuom and Methodist JSS, Takrowase.
