Kwakwaduam Association Inc of New York holds its Third Annual End of Year Annual Dinner Dance
Kwakwaduam Association Inc has held its Third Annual End of Year Dinner Dance at an impressive ceremony at the Holiday Inn at Orangeburg in New York on the 15th of December. The program was attended by such Dignitaries as Mr. Quartey the Deputy Ambassador of Ghana’s Permanent Mission to the UN and Mr. Darko Sarkwa the Managing Director of the US Division of Ghana Airways.
The Kwakwaduam Association of the TriState Area of New York is a group that traces its ancestry to the Akropong Region of Ghana and dedicated to the social, cultural and economic advancement of its members and to the development of Akropong in Particular.
Recounting the activities of the Organization in her speech, the President Ms Ama Oforiwah Boafo noted that the Organization has among other things periodically organized lectures of various challenging topics for members, donated medical supplies, a sonogram as well as a shuttle Bus to the Akropong Clinic and provided street lights to the Akropong town in the last year alone.
She further noted that the long-term goals of Kwakwaduam include the provision of computers for the schools and the establishment of Internet access as soon as the infrastructure of the locality would allow. In addition the Organization plans to organize Tutorial Classes for students taking the SSS and JSS exams to enable them pass and enter the Universities. It is hoped that by so doing the Youth of the town will acquire the necessary skill to become employable and cut down on human capital wastage.
She also stressed the need for expanding membership and implored on all people from Akropong in the Tristate Area to join the Organization.
