Kwesi Pratt Runs Riot ...

Over Purchase Of Presidential Jet

The Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Mr. Kwesi Pratt, who also doubles as a social commentator, a week ago accused the Government of lying to Ghanaians on the proposed purchase of a Presidential Jet.

The vociferous social commentator, charged Ghanaians to reject the explanation from the Defence Minister, Mr. Kan Dapaah, that the Falcon 900 Jet was part of the refurbishment of the Ghana Air Force fleet.

Mr. Pratt, who was speaking on Radio Gold, an Accra-based private radio station, stated that a jet designed for 12 passengers could not in any way be described as a military jet, especially considering the “supper, super preferential treatments” it had in it.

He said the NPP Government, a looting one, was only interested in seeing the masses suffer while they enjoyed.

The Minister had explained that the plane was meant for the Comunication Squadron of the Ghana Air Force.

It was against this backdrop that the CJA leader launched attacks on the defence Minister and described him as a liar who Ghanaians must rise up against.

Kwesi Pratt further stated that the aircraft could not be said to be a military jet because of the way it had been designed, adding that Government was only interested in the kickbacks it would receive in the purchase deal.

The issue of the Falcon 900 aircraft dominated the print and electronic media for the past week without either parties (NDC and the government) reaching a consensus.

While the NDC kept accusing Government of a fraudulent deal, Government said it was not so.

Meanwhile Parliament has given an approval for a loan for the purchase of the Jet.
