Kwesi Pratt’s China-Ghana comparison laughable – Edmund Kyei

New Patriotic Party communicator Edmund Kyei has described as derisory attempts to compare the number of ministerial appointments by President Akufo-Addo to that of China.

According to Mr Kyei, such attempts are borne out of mischief and desperate steps targeted at inciting public anger against President Akufo-Addo.

Speaking on Radio Gold’s Alhaji and Alhaji programme Saturday, veteran journalist Kwesi Pratt said the decision by the president to settle on 110 ministers, the highest so far in history because of Ghana’s problems is unthinkable, and must be condemned.

Comparing that to the Asian powerhouse China, Mr Pratt said, “China is dealing with what you may describe as secession which is openly backed by the West, China is threatened with war over the South China Sea, China is threatened with economic decline.

“ I mean, the huge progress that China made and so on is slowing down, Look at the population of China( a quarter of the World’s population, look at the land mass of China and so on),” thus on the basis of this, the decision by Akufo-Addo to go for an elephant sized government makes him the worst leader in history.

But in an exclusive interview with this reporter, Mr Kyei insisted Kwesi Pratt was being disingenuous in his thoughts.

“There is no way we can compare Ghana to China because they are different countries with completely different challenges. Besides, the ambitions of President Akufo-Addo are not the same as that of President Xi Jinping of China”.

“Kwesi Pratt and the like should give us a break,” Mr Kyei furiously stated.

According to him, the best way to evaluate the government is on the basis of how they deliver on their promises and not on the size of the government.
