LIVE UPDATES: Kotoko vs Zesco United (CAF Confed Cup)

Good afternoon and welcome to our coverage of the CAF Confederation Cup tie between Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Zesco United of Zambia.

The Porcupine Warriors began the journey with a defeat to Al Hilal of Sudan and must win today to keep them in the race for the a quarter final slot.

Kotoko coach C.K Akunnor has been unsurprisingly quiet ahead of the game, busily preparing his side for the task ahead.

But in an interview with the Daily Graphic, Akunnor indicated that his team was not just going to win the game but also excite their fans with beautiful football.

“What is important is to win, not the style of football. Sometimes, you can play the worst of football and win and vice versa. My only fear is that the boys do not become complacent.

Zesco United coach is overly confident of his team’s chances in Ghana despite their poor record of not picking an away win in their 7 games against Ghanaian teams.

“To every stage in history there must be a point when history will be rewritten. You may set the standard with history but it will be changed at some point. The players know what is involved and even the importance of this game.

"So we cannot separate the game we have played, the game we are about to play, and are later going to play. They all have the same significance towards our quest to qualify to the quarterfinals. I don’t believe in playing cautious games away, we need points. It is about points in this tournament and if anything attack is the best defence."

There has been no news of major injuries in both camps so you can expect the two teams to field their best players this afternoon.
