Although Ghana has recorded 5 new cases of Coronavirus, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 641, there seem to be a relief of a sort as recoveries have sharply risen from 17 to 83 in less than 24 hours.
At least, a message is being communicated to the general public that an infection is not a death sentence although there is the need to adhere to various preventive protocols.
According to the latest update on Ghana’s Covid-19 situation posted on the Ghana Health Service (GHS) website, “the five new cases were recorded in the following locations; one from Adenta Municipality and two each from Ayawaso East and Ayawaso Central Municipalities. With the exception of one of the cases from Ayawaso East, all the new cases are asymptomatic. Contacts of the new cases are being listed for follow up.”
Regions that have reported cases are Greater Accra (514), Ashanti (53), Central (1), Eastern (41), Western (1), Volta (9), Northern (10), North East (1), Upper East (4), and Upper West (7).
As Ghana enters day 18 of the lockdown, the Ministry of Information holds another press briefing to update the populace on locally produced Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs), electricity rebates and Covid-19 recoveries and tests.
The press conference is expected to be moderated by Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah.
