LIVE UPDATES: Press briefing as Ghana records 5127 coronavirus cases

A press briefing is being held at the Ministry of Information Press Centre, Accra, to provide an update as regards Ghana’s Coronavirus situation.

The regular session will also see the Information Ministry and other official speak about district based analysis of infections, analysis of mortality data as well as government’s priorities after cabinet retreat.

Ghana has so far recorded 5127 infections. 494 persons have recorded while 22 have died.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo announced during his ninth address to the nation since the outbreak of Covid-19 in the country that the ban on public gathering has been extended till end of May.

He urged all to desist from politicizing the fight against the pandemic. The president has also cautioned the general public to adhere to the preventive protocols as the country is not yet out of the woods.

“It is noteworthy that the police are arresting and prosecuting persons irrespective their status in society who flout these regulations,” the president noted in his address.

“We cannot allow a few persons with their narrow selfish interest to jeopardize the health, wellbeing and safety of the larger population. If you fall foul of the law, you will face its full rigors.”
