LIVESTREAMED: Ministry of Information's Press Briefing on coronavirus

The Ministry of Information in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and the Ghana Health Service held a press briefing to update Ghanaians on measures taken by the government to stop the spread of Coronavirus in Ghana.

Held at the Ministry of Information Press Centre, the briefing was addressed by the Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah and other government officials at the forefront of governments fight against the virus.

Issues addressed in today’s briefing included: Heightened enforcement of Stay at Home Orders, Provisions for the Homeless and the vulnerable, as well as the launch of a COVID-19 Information Contact Centre.

Ghana had a total of 161 confirmed cases of COVID-19 as at today Wednesday, April 1, 2020 at 7:40am. But has now recorded 195. The new figure was announced at the presser.

The figure includes 5 deaths.

The government of Ghana has been implementing and updating measures aimed at managing the spread of coronavirus in the country. On Monday, some cities in the country including Greater Accra, Greater Kumasi, and Kasoa were placed under a two-week partial lockdown.

The government has also indicated it will be embarking on a mass testing spree to catch up with cases that are yet to be detected especially in areas marked as hotspot zones.
