The Parliament of Ghana reconvened on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, following an emergency recall by the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin.

The sitting is being held at the Dome at the International Conference Centre due to ongoing repairs at the main chamber of Parliament.

The recall was prompted by a petition from the Majority Leader, Alexander Kwamina Afenyo-Markin, who voiced the Majority caucus’ dissatisfaction with the Speaker’s decision to adjourn the previous session indefinitely on July 30, 2024.

The emergency sitting will address several key issues, including discussions on a Financing Agreement between the Government of Ghana and the International Development Association, requests for tax exemptions for beneficiaries under the One District, One Factory Programme, and matters concerning the Ghana Financial Stability Fund.
