In line with the New Patriotic Party’s constitution to afford party members the opportunity to review and devise appropriate measures for smooth operation as well as review proposed constitutional amendments, the party is holding a national delegates conference at the Medical School Auditorium, University of Cape Coast.
Themed “NPP, our promises, our roots, our strength, our future”, the conference will see more than 5,000 delegates from all the 275 constituencies across the country deliberate and make appropriate resolutions on National Chairman’s report, National Treasurer’s Statement of Accounts, General Secretary’s report as well as the Opoku Adusei Committee report on the party’s performance in the 2016 elections and chart a course for victory in 2020.
1250 security personnel have been deployed to ensure an incident-free conference. The personnel have been drawn from the Ghana National Fire Service, Immigration Service, Prisons Service, BNI and National Security.
Meanwhile, Acting General Secretary of the party has asked prospective aspirants for various party positions to avoid campaigning at the conference since the party is yet to open nominations.
According to him, the party has the right to reprimand or sanction anyone who flouts the directive.
