UEW has experienced series of protests by various groups including students against the school’s Vice-Chancellor, Rev. Prof. Anthony Afful-Broni over the dismissal of some lecturers in the school.

The school was subsequently closed indefinitely by the Central Regional Security Council to avoid further disorder.

Also, De Eye group, an alleged ‘Militia’ group per an expose from Investigative Journalist, Manasseh Azure is suing the journalist and demanding GH10 million for damages over the ‘militia’ tag attached to their organization. They insist they are engaged in recruitment for the unemployed youth nationwide and have no involvement whatsoever in any military activities.
