The Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) has attributed cases of shortage of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) being experienced by some fuel stations to maintenance works on some distribution pipelines at the refinery.
The Managing Director of TOR, Dr K.K. Sarpong, explained that the pipelines which transferred LPG from the Residual Fluidised Catalytic Cracking (RFCC) plant to the loading gantry had to be shut down on Friday night to undergo maintenance works throughout the weekend. He was reacting to concerns raised by sections of the public that there was shortage of LPG at some fuel stations in Accra, Koforidua and Sekondi/Takoradi.
Dr Sarpong explained that although the RFCC, which produced LPG, was working at full capacity, the refinery could not supply LPG because of the repair works on the distribution pipelines. That notwithstanding, Dr Sarpong gave the assurance that the finished product had been stored for distribution to the public this week. He gave the assurance that the refinery would supply LPG at full scale today.
