Rev Solomon Kotey Niikoi, the Municipal Chief Executive of the La Dade-Kotopon Municipal Assembly has paid a courtesy call on the Inspector General of Police, IGP Mr James Oppong Boannuh at the Police Headquarters, Accra.

Describing the visit as historic, the IGP expressed delight in the MCE attempts to foster and forge closer relationship with organizations and stakeholders operating in the Municipality.

Mr Oppong Boannuh took the opportunity to explain to Rev Solomon Kotey some of the tenents that encompasses policing in the country.

“Integrity, Professionalism, Respect for Human Rights, Transparency, Accountability, Responsiveness and partnership are some of the very important virtues that are expected from the police.

He promised his full support to the MCE to make sure all the security threats in the Municipality are tackled head on because the police have already identified some of the hot spots and trouble prone areas in the jurisdiction.

Responding, Rev. Solomon Kotey Niikoi (M.C.E.) expressed his gratitude for the warm reception accorded to him and his entourage.

According to him, the security of the municipality is one of the thematic pillars he wanted to tackle in the Municipality.

My intention is to forge a very healthy relationship with all stakeholders, corporate, organizations and SOE’s in the Municipality to have a very symbiotic relationship with all.

Security is paramount to stability and investments and as such I deemed it necessary to pay you a visit and discuss a fruitful relationship.
He called for a frequent police patrols to avert any crime and social vices in the community.

“Please we will like to see more police patrols in the community especially our schools where wee peddlers and social miscreants are virtually taking over the accommodation of the basic schools.”.

He further requested for more logistics for the Police Stations in the Municipality as well as the stationing of a permanent police post at Accra Mall to stem the indiscipline activities of the recalcitrant hawkers.

Meanwhile prior to the visit to the IGP, the MCE has previously visited the Cantonments, Airport and the La Police Station, all under his jurisdiction to acquaint himself with their challenges and brief them plans the Assembly has to ameliorate those problems.

He used the opportunity to brief the officers and gentlemen in uniform and assure them of his and the Assembly constant support.
