The Lamptey Mills land lords Association at Ngleshie Amanfrom, have called on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to intervene in what they described as harassment and physical abuse by one Kofi Isaac B. Yiadom who according to them, has allegedly taken over their lands and properties.

According to them, Mr. Yiadom has pulled down structures and landing properties belonging to them on the premise that, he [Yiadom] secured a court order to pulled down the structures because the lands belong to the Ofankor family.

Some of the victims speaking to Nyankonton Mu Nsem said, they purchased their lands from the Amanfrom family and so they were surprised Mr. Yiadom in the company of land guards, terrorized and pulled down their structures.

One of the victims said, ‘’my late father bought the land from the Amanfrom family some years ago but recently, the Ofankor family are claiming ownership. The documents I have shows that I bought the land from the Amanfrom family and so I do not understand why some people are claiming ownership.’’

They alleged that some have died as a result of the alleged attacks by Mr. Yiadom and his supposed land guards. Nii Kwashie Gborlor IV sued as chief of Ngleshie-Amafrom at the Accra High Court over the matter.

He prayed the court to grant his request for an interlocutory injunction to restrain the defendant from trespassing the lands in dispute until the determination of the case.

The Accra High Court granted the request and gave an order for interlocutory injunction restraining Mr. Yiadom, his agents, assigns, privies, or anyone claiming through the defendant from trespassing, digging, grading or in any way entering the land in dispute and carrying out any further developments on the disputed land until the final determination of this matter.

The order according to the court shall operate for a period of 10 days only and applicant be required to repeat this on notice to the defendant.

However, moments after the residents in the company of the bailiff posted the order on the affected lands, some workers who were on the site working, removed them after the team left.

Chairman of the association of land lords Mr. Fredrick K. Adasu appealed to the security agencies to come to their aid before the worse happens.

According to him, the police have failed to protect them although they have reported on several occasions.

He said, the police within the affected areas dos not care about their safety and so they reported the case at the police headquarters but that did not yield any positive result hence the reason to head to court. He added that since the arrival of the alleged land guards, robbery cases have increased in the area and ‘’if the police does not intervene, we will not be safe any more. Residents are living in fear. Three people have lost their lives because of the issue and if the president does not intervene, things will go from bad to worse. We are appealing to the IGP to step in and deal with the issue of land guards in the area. They come with guns and other offensive weapons. Our position is that, because the case is pending in court, we will accept any outcome. If the court rules in favour of the Ofankor family we have no problem. The only thing we will do is that, we will sit with them and negotiate.’’
