Goaso, (B/A), July 15, GNA - A Roman Catholic Priest has advised the leadership of the state to be God-fearing and to acknowledge the role of the church in nation-building. Reverend Father Eric Awuah Gyamfi, Parish Priest of St. Michael Catholic Church at Kukuom in Brong-Ahafo said the fear of God would enable the leadership to make the welfare of the people their paramount concern.
The Priest was preaching at a thanksgiving service at Kukuom in honour of Mr. Fleance Danso, Asunafo South District Chief Executive (DCE).
Rev. Gyamfi said; "Since the church and the state are partners in development there is the need for politicians to include churches in initiating and executing developmental projects." Mr Danso promised to work jointly with religious bodies in the district for accelerated development saying that though there were challenges facing the district he would do his best to bring development to the doorsteps of the people.
He appealed to the people in the district to exercise patience and support the government in the execution of development projects. He said; "Every government needs the contributions of all citizens to achieve developmental goals."
Mr Danso said agriculture, health and education were his priority and the assembly intended to set up an education endowment fund to support brilliant students in second cycle and tertiary institutions. He said he would ensure the people had access to potable drinking water and that electricity would be extended to communities not yet hooked to the national grid.
The DCE called for closer collaboration between the people and the district assembly.
Mr Mohammed Kwaku Doku, Municipal Chief Executive for Asunafo North advised his colleagues to work hard to help alleviate the plight of the people.
