'Leaked' KB report: I will sue NDC Chairman – Ofosu Ampofo

Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, NDC Director of Elections Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, NDC Director of Elections

The Director of Elections of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, has threatened to sue the Eastern Regional chairman for the opposition NDC, Bismarck Tawiah Boateng for accusing him of leaking the Kwesi Botchwey report to the media.

The Eastern Regional Chairman, Tawiah Boateng says he’s much convinced that Ofosu Ampofo’s selfish dealings with the Daily Guide newspaper led to the eventual revelation of the contents of the Kwesi Botchwey Committee.

In a statement by Mr. Ofosu Ampofo released on his behalf by his aid, Foster Asante said: “the content of the claim is nothing but an attempt by the regional chairman to satisfy his whims and caprices by dragging the name and reputation of Hon. Ofosu Ampofo in the mud”

The statement further denied the complicity of Mr. Ofosu Ampofo vis a vis the purported leaked report insisting that he[Mr. Ofosu Ampofo] “has never possessed or sighted the report apart from the one some of media claim to be the executive summary.”

The statement added: As usual of Tawiah Boateng, he has at every given opportunity tried effortlessly to soil the name of the former minister without any provocation. It has always been his agenda to cause disaffection for Mr. Ampofo anytime there are internal elections at hand”

Re: Ofosu Ampofo leaked Kwesi Botchwey report.

Our attention has been drawn to a story published by some online portals/websites including www.ghananewsreporters.com that Hon. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, a vice chairman of National Democratic Congress leaked the much talked about Prof. Kwasi Botchwey’s report to the media, specifically Daily Guide.

First of all, we will like to state that the content of the claim is nothing but an attempt by the regional chairman to satisfy his whims and caprices by dragging the name and reputation of Hon. Ofosu Ampofo in the mud.

As usual of Tawiah Boateng, he has at every given opportunity tried effortlessly to soil the name of the former minister without any provocation.

It has always been his agenda to cause disaffection for Mr. Ampofo anytime there are internal elections at hand.

This same person told the biggest Lie that the fuel station (Paradise) located at Nsutam was a property of Mr. Ampofo in the run-up to the party’s national Congress in Kumasi a few years ago.

His aim was to cause disaffection for Hon. Ampofo for him to be rejected but he recorded a resounding victory, much to his (Tawiah Boateng) disappointment.

Much as Mr. Ampofo, a well respected political heavyweight in the country do not want to descend into the gutters by engaging the regional chairman in a media confrontation, it is important that we respond to the false claim headlined "OFOSU AMPOFO LEAKED KWESI BOTCHWEY REPORT".

It must be placed on record that, Mr. Ofosu Ampofo has never possessed or sighted the report apart from the one some of media claim to be the executive summary.

As a member of the committee and someone who believes in the structures of the party, he has deliberately refused to speak to some of the claims in the report and the response from the regional chairman, not because they are true but to heed to the call by the party to its members to ensure unity and peaceful coexistence.

Again, he is one person who doesn’t believe the stories carried by Daily guide are part of the committee’s report since it was agreed to securely put it under lock and key.

We will advise the embattle regional chairman, Tawia Boateng who has lost touch with party in the region to stop the rantings in the media and focus on how to organize the party in his backyard.

Lastly, we want to assure all his teeming supporters that he is consulting his legal team to meet Tawia Boateng in court to prove Hon. Ofosu Ampofo’s complexity.

He has served the party and will continue to serve the great party wholeheartedly.

Foster Asante,Aid to Hon. Ofosu Ampofo.
