An NDC parliamentary aspirant in the Jomoro Constituency, Mr. Leo Kofi Armah Amenlemah, has launched his campaign to canvass for votes in the November primary of the party.
This followed a decision by the sitting Member of Parliament, Wing Commander Francis Kabenla Anaman (rtd), not to contest the 2016 parliamentary elections on the ticket of the NDC.
Mr. Amenlemah, a native of Jaway and Elubo, is currently the Vice-Chairman of the Ohio chapter of the party in the US, and President of GEO IT CONSULT Limited in Accra and USA.
The teeming party supporters who accompanied the aspirant were clad in NDC party T-shirts embossed, 'New Vision, New Hope," to express their solidarity for Mr. Amenlemah to lead them in the 2016 parliamentary elections.
Addressing the enthusiastic supporters of the NDC after a brass band procession through the principal streets of Elubo, Mr. Amenlemah told the gathering that Jomoro abounded in rich natural resources, such as gold and diamond, with four borders, tourist centres.
Mr. Amenlemah said his decision to lead the Jomoro constituency in the 2016 parliamentary elections was borne out by the fact that "if you are in a position to help, do it." adding that this would bring a new form of leadership to transform the area and improve their living conditions.
Outlining his vision, he said the pursuit of education was high on his agenda, as he had already acquired 12 acres of land for the establishment of a Nursing Training College, to cater for the health care needs of the people, especially around Elubo.
He promised that scholarships would also be offered to students to pursue higher education, while an electronic library would be set up to enhance research.
Mr Amenlemah said he would organize remedial classes for school leavers.
He pledged his readiness to assist the people to tap the rich natural resources in the area, to spearhead development.
The parliamentary aspirant also hinted of setting up an Elderly Care Centre to cater for the health needs of the aged and the vulnerable.
He said he would initiate moves to harness the tourism potentials in the area, such as the Ankasa Forest Reserve, Nzulezo (village on stilt), the four borders, and the hospitality industry, to make the area a tourist destination.
Mr. Amenlemah said job creation would also engage his attention, since most of the youth in the area were out of job
Touching on the social life of the people, he promised to organize entertainment activities, set up a football team and community centres, as source of socialization and relaxation.
He revealed that he had already paid school fees of some students, and set others up in businesses, and hoped to continue this humanitarian gesture if the people gave him their mandate.
The NDC Zonal Coordinator of Elubo, Mr.Yussif Ouattara disclosed that over 2,000 party supporters would cast their ballots in the up-coming primary in the Jomoro constituency.
He thanked Mr. Amenlemah for his unflinching support to the party at both home and abroad, with special reference to the donation of a laptop and a printer to the zonal office.
A Public Relations Consultant, Mr. Raymond Kwofie, said Mr. Amenlemah had demonstrated good leadership by paying school fees of students in his area, and setting others up businesses although he was not yet a Member of Parliament (MP) for the area
