A spokesperson for the John Dramani Mahama transition team, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has cautioned his colleagues in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as they prepare to take over the country’s administration.

According to him, they must learn from the treatment Ghanaians gave the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at the polls and understand that they will face a catastrophic loss if they follow the same path the NPP did while in office.

He emphasized that the Ghanaian electorate has become more sophisticated and will decisively reject any party that takes the opportunity for granted.

His post, shared on social media, read: "For doing catastrophic damage to the country, the NPP has suffered a catastrophic loss. That is a cautionary tale to us in the NDC. If the Ghanaian electorate has plucked feathers from the back of a tortoise, you can imagine what they will do to a chicken."

John Dramani Mahama will be sworn in as president on January 7, taking over the country's administration for the next four years.

He is expected to use his first 120 days to fulfill his social contract with the people of Ghana.

The president-elect has acknowledged that the task ahead of him is not an easy one and that he will need committed individuals to work with in order to achieve the necessary success.
