Kofi Osei Boateng, a 63-year-old ex-convict was arrested for trying to traffic Narcotics (Cocaine) to Germany in 2005 at the Kotoka International Airport.
Osei Boateng after his release has sent caution to all people engaging in drug trafficking or considering the idea.
According to him, he was better off as a simple hard working law abiding citizen than engaging in drug trafficking and losing everything he ever worked for.
“I lived in Hamburg in Germany for 23 years and worked with so many automobile companies as a factory worker, I had a wife and three children, I lived a very happy comfortable life” he recounted
Osei Boateng said through the influence of his friends he was lured into drug trafficking and on his third attempt, he was arrested at the Kotoka Airport and sentenced to 10-years in prison.
He said, during his stay in prison his house was confiscated because he apparently bought the land from wrong hands.
“My house at Weija was confiscated because the people I bought the land from weren’t the true owners of it, it belonged to the Ghana Water Company, so I came back from prison empty-handed, I sleep at my friends fitting workshop, everything of mine has collapsed, I live off my friends” he said.
The 63-year-old advised the youth to desist from engaging in illegal activities to fetch them quick money
According to him, young people should use his life as an example to be law-abiding citizens and desist from following the choices that landed him in jail and caused him all his life savings, family and other important privileges like his German residency permit.
“Anybody who is deciding to indulge in drug trafficking should stop, it is not a good thing for your person, your family and the disgrace it will bring upon you, so I will advise that anybody who is considering the act should stop” he advised.
Osei Boateng after he returned from prison has lost all contacts with his family, friends and lost hold on all his properties.
