Let’s be optimistic about the President’s good intentions

Mr Isaac Ashai Odamtten, the Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive, has called on Ghanaians to put aside all pessimism and support President John Mahama to achieve his vision for Ghana.

“Let’s put away the pessimism, cynicism and extreme partisan posturing because we will only win the war against poverty, disease and ignorance when we come together as one people,” he said in an interview with the GNA.

Mr Odamtten, who was reacting to the President’s State of the Nation address, said President John Dramani Mahama had given the nation a new sense of direction and a strong sense of hope for a better Ghana.

He said the President’s call for a concerted effort at nation building should be heeded by all to make Ghana a better place.

Mr Odamtten said Tema was now recognised as not only the maritime and industrial hub of Ghana but also the energy generation hub.

“We are therefore grateful that President Mahama has put in place concrete measures to strengthen the Municipality’s role in that direction. The huge investment in the Tema harbour expansion would forever be in the hearts of the people of Tema and Ghana as a whole,” he said

According to him, the Tema harbour rail to Boankra which the President mentioned had begun with the clearing of certain areas to make way for the project which would ease congestion and paper work at the port adding, “I have special team working on it.”

“Very soon, all cargoes destined for up country and those of Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger would just pass through the harbour and end up in the inner port of Boankra, near Kumasi, to facilitate trade,” he said.
