Accra, Oct 22, GNA - Nii Tetteh Tsuru II, Otupai Mantse, on Saturday urged the Ga citizenry to put aside practices that retard the progress and development of Gas and pursue unity.
He said, "You should unite and fight for a common goal that will bring in development".
Nii Tsuru was speaking at a ceremony to lower the curtains on activities marking this year's Homowo festival. The ceremony was also used as a remembrance for Ga ancestors who lost their lives in the fight for the Otupai kingdom.
Commenting on the confusion about the burial of Nii Amugi II, the Ga Mantse, Nii Tsuru appealed to the family of the Ga Mantse and the Ga Traditional Council to come together to give the late chief a befitting burial.
Nii Tsuru II, who is also a sub chief of Gbese, again expressed concern about the burial of the Gbese chief, Nii Ayitey Agbotu II, who died about three years ago but has not yet been buried. "I would ask all Gbese citizens to bury their difference. Not burying Nii Gbese will not solve our problems," he said. Earlier the citizens of Otupai, led by their chiefs and queens, paraded the principal streets of the area, clad in warlike clothes amidst gunshots, drumming and dancing. Wreaths were laid in remembrance of the ancestors.
