The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam, Mr Peter Light Koomson, has said multi-party democracy has made Ghana a peaceful nation.
The peace, he said, must be maintained and protected by refraining from using insults against political opponents as “we gradually enter the December 2012 elections.”
The DCE said this when he addressed a parade to mark Ghana’s 55th independence anniversary at Ajumako.
He called on Ghanaians to reject any political leader who used uncivil language, violent effusions and insulting messages in their political campaigns.
He said the District Assembly would continue to create an enabling environment for social and political interactions, and would not renege on its mandate of expanding access to education, providing portable water, healthcare, reliable security in promoting local economic activities and other desirable public products that would bring peace and sustainable development.
